Oh! A shield maker colleague! Just love the way you put the leather straps: did you get the idea from Roland's fb page or what? :D
Anyway, many and many thanks for all the faves and for watching! :thanks:

I'm not sure who Roland is. I got my inspiration from Ye Olde Gaffers and the "Show us your shields" thread on I did the guides yesterday, and I'm going to make the buckle later today, so stay tuned.

Roland Warzecha, aka "Dimicator" on fb. He's really into medieval research, especially I.33 sword & buckler fighting techiques. He's also writing a book titled "the advent of medieval sword" which will include some new points and theories on medieval  shields based on archaeological finds :) Highly recommended to follow
I'll definitely check that out, then :)

You're welcome. If I may asK, how did you make the rivets on your shield? I used roofing nails and 1/8"plate on mine, but I doubt I'm going to do it again. I'd prefer another method.

The rivets are hand forged rose head nails that I bought online. If you distress the heads of modern nails, it should look okay. That way you don't have to spend 80p per nail...
